  16.    Sounds like your modem got hit by lightning - actually, your phone 
  17. line did.  Contact the modem manufacturer to get information on getting 
  18. it repaired.  This shouldn't be a problem - this happens all the time.  
  19. There are phone line surge protectors, but I wouldn't go to the expense 
  20. unless I lived in a high-lightning area.
